About CR Coffee

New Orleans coffee since 2015

From Wholesale to Three Shops

CR Coffee started with a simple conviction: New Orleans deserves better coffee. Kevin Pedeaux co-founded Coast Roast Coffee in 2009 — a roastery on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that roasts on antique 1910s drum roasters. He still develops all the blends and handles the green bean buying today. In 2015, Kevin and his wife Ashley saw an opportunity at St. Roch Market — a historic 1875 market building on St. Claude Avenue that was reopening as part of the neighborhood's revitalization. CR Coffee became one of the market's anchor vendors, serving his own Coast Roast beans to a community that was rebuilding. What started as a single stall inside a food hall grew into three brick-and-mortar locations. The Magazine Street flagship occupies a Victorian shotgun house in the Garden District, complete with a courtyard patio and the Crescent Room private event space. The Old Metairie shop brought CR Coffee to the suburbs. And the original St. Roch Market location is still going strong.

Rooted in New Orleans

Kevin and Ashley are New Orleans preservationists. They restored a shotgun house in the Holy Cross neighborhood through the Preservation Resource Center's Operation Comeback program — the same commitment to honoring what came before that drives how they approach coffee. CR Coffee isn't a chain that landed in New Orleans. It grew out of this city. The shops host community gatherings, support local events, and serve as neighborhood gathering spots where regulars know each other by name. From the antique roasters that make the coffee to the century-old buildings that house the shops, CR Coffee is built on the belief that the old ways still have something to teach us.
